Flopilot vs Google Drive: storing files, or running a project?

Strictly speaking, these are not competing tools: Google Drive stores files and lets people write together, while Flopilot organises the work around the documents. Often, the two complement each other.

Google Drive

Google Drive stores your files, and Google Docs, Sheets and Slides let several people write together in real time. For sharing and co-editing documents, it is a benchmark almost everyone knows.

Flopilot

Flopilot is not one more storage space: it is a project space. Documents sit next to the tasks, notes, due dates, useful links and "To read". And you can bring your Drive folders in just as they are.

Common ground

What both of them do

  • Folders and subfolders
  • Documents you can read in the browser
  • Sharing with people outside your team
  • Search across documents
Differences

The differences of principle

Not a feature race: what each tool puts at the centre, and how it approaches the same needs.

Who suits what

Which one is right for you?

Choose Google Drive if…

  • Your main need is writing documents together, at the same time.
  • Above all, you need to store and share files.
  • Your tasks are handled perfectly well elsewhere.

Choose Flopilot if…

  • Your documents are scattered and you no longer know where the right versions are.
  • You want a project's tasks, due dates and documents in the same place.
  • You want to know who has read the important documents.
  • Hosting in France matters to you.

Using Flopilot with Google Drive

  1. Keep the documents you write together in real time in Google Docs.
  2. Drag your active projects' folders into Flopilot, from Google Drive for desktop or as a .zip: they arrive with their subfolders, and downloaded Google Docs become readable Word files.
  3. Google Docs shortcuts keep their link: one click opens them in Google Docs.
  4. Create the tasks and useful links, and send the key documents to "To read".

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to connect my Google account to Flopilot?

No. Flopilot does not connect to your Google account: you drag your folders in from your computer (with Google Drive for desktop), or the .zip that Google Drive prepares when you download a folder.

What happens to my Google Docs in Flopilot?

Downloaded Google Docs become Word files, readable directly in the app. Google Docs shortcuts keep their link and open in Google Docs.

Can several people write in a Flopilot document at once?

Flopilot has rich notes for meeting minutes, memos and lists, but simultaneous co-writing in the same document is not its goal. For that, keep Google Docs and store its shortcut in the project.
