There is no perfect tool, only tools that fit the way you work more or less well. Here is an honest look at what each well-known tool does well, and how Flopilot is different.
Comparison written in October 2026 based on each tool's principles, not on an exhaustive list of features: those change quickly. Always check each vendor's website before choosing.
Our choices
Flopilot's five principles
These are not features the others lack: they are the choices that guide Flopilot, and they matter when you decide whether it suits you.
All-in-one, project by project
Tasks, notes, documents, links, calendar and dashboard: everything about a project is in one place.
Documents you can read in the app
PDF, Word, spreadsheets, presentations, images, Markdown: you read them without downloading, right next to the tasks.
"To read"
Ask people to read a document, a note, a folder or a link, with a deadline, and see who has read it.
Hosted in France
Flopilot's data is stored on an OVH server located in France, with two-factor authentication.
Simple, with nothing to build
A ready-to-use structure that is the same for every project: create it and get to work.
Tool by tool
What each tool does well
The strengths of each, the difference of principle with Flopilot, and when the tool is more likely to be the right fit for you.
Trello
Known for its kanban boards: columns and cards you drag from one to the next.
Its strengths
Very easy to pick up
Visual and quick for following a workflow
Extensions (Power-Ups) to add features
The difference with Flopilot
Flopilot starts from the project rather than the board: list, kanban and calendar, but also notes, documents you can read right in the app, and "To read".
Best for you if you only want a light kanban board, and your documents live elsewhere.
A completely free-form grid that everyone already knows how to use.
Its strengths
Total freedom
Nothing to learn
Perfect for calculations and simple lists
The difference with Flopilot
Flopilot brings what a spreadsheet cannot do on its own: reminders, kanban and calendar views, readable documents, assignment and read tracking.
Best for you if you manage a single simple list, on your own, with no due dates to track.

Switch without retyping everything
Tasks can be imported from Markdown text or a CSV, and folders can be dragged in with their subfolders.
Guests who never pay
Share a project with a client or a partner: they read, comment and tick off their tasks, with no subscription.
Frequently asked questions
What is the best project management tool?
There isn't just one: the right tool is the one that matches the way you work and that your team will actually use. If you want to configure everything, a highly configurable tool will suit you. If you want to bring tasks, notes and documents together with nothing to build, Flopilot was designed for exactly that.
Does Flopilot replace Google Drive?
For a project's documents, often yes: they are organised in folders and readable in the app. For real-time co-writing, keep Google Docs: in Flopilot, its shortcuts keep their link. See Flopilot vs Google Drive.
Can I import my tasks from another tool?
Flopilot imports tasks from Markdown text or a CSV file. If your current tool can export your tasks in one of these formats, or if you can copy them as a list, you get them back in a few clicks, sorted into groups.
Why not compare prices?
Because pricing changes often and depends on the number of people, the options and how you use the tool. A price comparison would quickly be wrong. Flopilot's plans are detailed on the Pricing page.
